THE QUESTION OF DOUBLE STANDARDS

When 12,000 paramilitary personnel were airlifted to Delhi to manage a peaceful protest, one must ask: Where was this urgency when our own paramilitary troops were denied air transport ahead of the Pulwama attack? Could timely air support have helped avert the tragedy?

Peaceful protesters must not be casually branded as “rowdies.” Democratic dissent is a constitutional right, not a licence to insult citizens exercising that right.

Respect the protesters. Respect the Constitution. Respect the uniform. Accountability must be equal for all.
